The Pas spiritual leader will explain his views at a musyawarah (consultation) to be attended by 47 central committee members and state chiefs at the party headquarters here tomorrow night.
In his first response yesterday since Nik Aziz, who is also Kelantan menteri besar, made known his unhappiness over the issue, Hadi said the musyawarah was the correct forum to decide on the call for the EGM, instead of it being debated in the media.
Hadi, in his media statement, called on party leaders and members to be patient and calm in finding a solution to Pas’ problems.
He said the party had faced and resolved much more serious matters since its inception in 1951.
The issue had been hotly discussed in the media following Nik Aziz’s call through his blog, http://www.blogtokguru.com/, last Friday for Pas to convene an EGM to decide on a change in leadership and to replace “two or three” problematic leaders in the party.
He criticised Hadi for being pro-Umno and identified the other problematic leaders — party deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa, secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali and Selangor Pas commissioner Datuk Dr Hasan Ali.
His criticism of the leaders stemmed from their continued support for unity government talks with Umno despite Pas’ stand against the talks.
Meanwhile, Mustafa who called for a press conference to announce the date of the m u s yawa ra h at Pas headquarters here, said Nik Aziz’s criticism against him was something new to him.
“All this while I have considered myself a strong supporter of Pakatan Rakyat.
“Anyway, this issue had never cropped up before in our meetings, including the last one we had on Oct 18,” Mustafa added.
He, however, refused to comment on why Nik Aziz had criticised him and if there was any bad blood between them.
He said Hadi decided to call for the special meeting after considering the feedback from leaders and members.
Meanwhile, in Kota Baru, Nik Aziz is happy that the party leadership has agreed to hold the musyawarah, and expressed hope that the EGM will become a reality.
He said that he had no problem whether it would be called an extraordinary general meeting or a special meeting.
“It is okay if they want to change the name of the meeting.
I have purposely done it,” he said when met by reporters after the state assembly meeting yesterday.
Nik Aziz declined further comment and said he would speak about it later after the meeting tomorrow.
